WIN – Science Initiative Lower Austria, Association for Interdisciplinary Research, Consulting and Education has been specialised in managing and coordinating scientific cooperation in European research and education programmes:
in the area of natural sciences, we are or have been active in human biology, agriculture, nutrition, environment protection
in social sciences, we have been active in the didactic of adult education and the evaluation of projects for adult education and vocational qualification.
WIN has been founded in 1990 as non-profit association. The first project was the research project “R30” focusing on aspects of vocational guidance and counselling for students of higher schools in Lower Austria, with the Interuniversitarian Research Instititute for Distance Education (IFF) and the Lower Austrian Labour Market Service (AMS) acting as cooperation partners.
Between 1995 and 2007, WIN was mainly active in evaluating labour market related qualification measures and various transnational European projects in the programmes SOCRATES and LEONARDO DA VINCI. Since 2014, the association has been active in several Strategic Partnerships of the Erasmus+ Programme.
The scientific background of WIN experts covers also natural sciences, especially biotechnology and environment, and social sciences. These fields have become the focus of our activities, and we will benefit from our experiences in the European educational projects
by introducing social aspects also into the new activities.
